The show is open for audience on both show days between 10am-4pm.

The audience is welcome to our cat show. The cat show is an excellent opportunity to get to know different breeds and compare their appearance and size, as well as to get acquainted with the breed cat hobby. At the show, you can personally discuss with cat breeders and owners. Association magazines and brochures are also available. There are also vendors of cat supplies and food as well as artisans from whose outlets you can make excellent discoveries for yourself or for your own home tiger.

Families with children are very welcome as long as care is taken not to run or make noise in the hall as cats may be frightened by sudden and surprising noises.

In addition, at the show one must remember that cats or cat and owner supplies should never be touched without the owner’s permission. Also review areas should only be reassured for cats, the owner, judges, and their assistants.

In our show cats are divided according to breeds into their own areas. The cats of each cat owner are in their own cages during the show day. The show cage is the cat’s home for the day, so don’t touch the cages or even put your fingers in the cages without the owner’s permission. The cat cage area has its own passageways for the public and cat owners. It is not appropriate to go to the owners side without permission.

If you wish, you can ask the cat owner for permission to pet the cat. It is good to disinfect your hands and cat owners usually have a disinfectant on the go. The purpose of disinfection is to prevent cats from becoming infected with, for example, foreign bacteria from other cats.

What kind of event is a cat show?

At the cat show cat owners get quality reviews for their cat. This means that the cats are taken one at a time to the judge where the cat will be judged and compared to its own breed standard. Each cat breed has its own standard that defines what each breed should look like. The better a cat meets the standard of its own breed, the more points it gets from the judge. More information about the standards and scoring of different breeds can be found here (in English):

FIFe: Breed standards

Approved Cat breeds are divided into four different categories (1-4) and domestic cats have their own rating category. In the final competition, i.e. the panel, the best cats selected by the judges will always compete against breeds of the same category. Approved breeds by category can be found here: (finnish)

Kissaliitto: Kissarodut

How do you get the most out of your show day?

You should come to the show right in the morning when you have the opportunity to follow the reviews and chat with the owners and breeders about their cats. In the morning there is an excellent opportunity to also see how different races are prepared for presentation to the judge. For example, many long-haired breeds require long preparation with washing and drying to bring out the best features of a cat when presenting itself to a judge. Carefully done advance preparations are often finalized at the exhibition site, which is also interesting to see. You can find more about this topic in this Yle news, for example.

Once all the cats have gone through the quality judgments and the judges have taken a break, the judges will select from the cats they judged during the day the cats that have scored the best during the day. Each judge selects the best male, female, trimmed male and trimmed female (so-called neutered), young and kitten from each breed.

Winner show differs from ordinary cat show in that on Saturday judges nominate best cats but the culmination of the show, the panel, is on Sunday. At the panel winner cats are selected. Then one can see which of the cats from the given category will get the Scandinavian Winner 2022 title. Because all other cats in the show are also present on Sunday some of the cat owners have more time than usual to show cats to the public.

Whichever day - or both - You may attend there will be a very interesting day ahead with cats and fellow cat lovers!

Welcome!
